High-level debate on “Somalia – the road to peace and stability”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and DIIS, Danish Institute for International Studies invite to a public meeting “Somalia – the road to peace and stability” on Friday 27th March at 12:15 hrs. Both the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Danish Minister for Trade and Development will speak. International guest speakers include Somalia’s Minister for National Security and the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa.

The meeting will focus on the political and security challenges that Somalia faces and on Denmark’s and Europe’s interest and engagement in helping Somalia overcome these challenges. The discussion will touch upon the importance of peace and stability in Somalia to Somalia’s neighbouring countries and the world, including on issues such as violent extremism, radicalisation, refugees and piracy. Reference is made to Denmark’s new country policy paper for Somalia 2015-17.
