UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will attend the inauguration of the new UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark, July 4, 2013

The new UN City in Copenhagen will be inaugurated during an official ceremony Thursday July 4, 2013. Together with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and the Prime Minister of Denmark, Ms. Helle Thorning-Schmidt, UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, will attend the inauguration.

The new UN City in Copenhagen consists of state of the art office facilities and a high-tech warehouse in Copenhagen's north harbour district. Denmark has hosted UN organizations for more than 50 years; however, this is the first time that they will all be located on the same premises. The new UN City will enhance efficiency and foster collaboration between the organisations and improve their ability to deliver results on the ground.

Some 1,000 guests are expected to attend the event, including Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Villy Søvndal, Minister for Development Cooperation, Mr. Christian Friis Bach, and the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Mr. Frank Jensen.
