Taiwan is the 14th most competitive economy in the world, according to the 2016 "World Competitiveness Yearbook" recently released by the Swiss-based Institute for Management Development.

The same report ranked Taiwan to be the 23rd most competitive economy in the world in 2009. This means that Taiwan has jumped forward by 9 spots in the course of a year, a greater improvement than many of the other economies surveyed.
