Are you proactive and detail-oriented? Are you service-minded and willing to assist Danish citizens in often time-sensitive and complex situations? Then perhaps you are our new Consular Officer. The Consulate General of Denmark in Silicon Valley is seeking a full-time Consular Officer to join our Organization, Administration & Consular Affairs team.
About the role
As a key member of the Organization, Administration & Consular Affairs (OAC) team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality consular services to Danish citizens in close cooperation with our Vice Consul, including providing assistance with passports, handling emergency cases and coordinating civil matters. As part of the OAC team, you will also help ensure the daily operation of the Consulate General, which include managing the reception. More specifically, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing consular assistance and support to Danish citizens
- Coordinating and processing passport applications
- Serving as the liaison to the U.S. Department of State
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Consulate General.
Desired qualifications and personal characteristics
- Demonstrated experience with consular and/or administrative tasks
- Strong customer service skills and a proactive mindset
- High level of integrity and resilience under pressure
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to understand and follow procedures and guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- A strong team player with a solution-oriented approach
- Detail-oriented, even with a large caseload.
Employment conditions
- You will also be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses, and so will your spouse/partner and children under the age of 26, if you provide for him/her/them.
- We offer a full time employment for 3 years, with the possibility of extension.
- Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment and your spouse/partner, if applicable, is not eligible for a work permit.
- The Consulate General’s standard work week is 37 hours, and you will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
- The gross yearly salary for the position. For a tax-exempt employee (non-US) the yearly net salary is 55.000-60.000$. For an employee subject to US income taxation there will be 14% added to the salary. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, an additional individual allowance may be added. On top of your basic salary, you will receive an 8% employer paid pension. The employee share is 3% and it is self-paid.
