Would you like to be part of a strong Outreach and Communication Team working for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the US? The Embassy of Denmark in Washington D.C. is looking for two experienced Outreach and Communication Advisors for Outreach, SoMe and Communication.
About the job
The Embassy is establishing a new Outreach and Communication Team. The Team will be responsible for planning and executing the Embassy’s ongoing outreach efforts and media as well as organizing campaigns and strategic communication initiatives, including targeted digital communication. The team will also manage the Embassy’s collaboration with Danish media and the network of Danish correspondents stationed abroad.
Further, the team will play a key role in promoting Danish culture and organizing events. It will also be involved in the planning and execution of ministerial visits, parliamentary visits, and other high-level engagements.
As one of our two new Outreach and Communication Advisors, you will cover a broad range of the above tasks together with your five team colleagues.
Required qualifications
- Relevant bachelor or master degree in communication, journalism etc.
- A couple of years of relevant work experience with communications.
- Strong interest in the promotion of Denmark and Danish values and principles.
- Good motivational skills in teaching colleagues good branding opportunities.
- Professional experience with social media platforms.
- Appreciation of a highly energetic work environment.
- A high sense of responsibility.
- Excellent English language skills – both oral and written.
- IT proficiency and solid Microsoft Office program skills.
- Great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.
- Ability to foster and maintain networks within your field.
Desired qualifications
- Command of Danish or any of the other Scandinavian languages is not a requirement, but will be considered an advantage.

Employment conditions
- Full time employment for 2 years with the possibility of extension on a local contract based on the local Embassy Staff Rules.
- You will be employed with an average workweek of 37 hours, but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit. This implies that you must work more than 37 hours a week if your work so requires without receiving compensation for overtime.
- You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year.
- Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
- You will be offered a local health insurance with 80% premium covered.
- Benefits and other conditions will be based on the Embassy’s Staff Rules.
- The basic gross monthly salary for an employee subject to US income taxation is USD 5,456. For a tax-exempt employee (tax exemption depending on US visa status and citizenship) the monthly net salary will be USD 4,528. Basic salary is subject to change, depending on the qualifications and experience. On top of the basic salary, there will be an additional allowance of 12% for the no upper working hours’ limit. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience an additional individual allowance may be added.
